What is Bethlehem Ministry?
Bethlehem Ministry is a non-profit corporation in the State of Georgia (in the United States) and a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization according to the Internal Revenue Service of the United States. All donations are deductible to the full extent of the laws of the United States and the State of Georgia.
Our charter states that we will raise money to support the poor in Haiti. The focus since the founding in 1993 has been to support the schools begun by Pere Jean Monique Bruno.
The board of directors consists of 20 dedicated people who have all traveled to Haiti and observed the projects we support. We maintain contact with the people in Haiti and travel there regularly, so we are able to keep current on the ministries we support and verify that our donations are properly applied.
The board of directors, at its meeting in 2007, adopted two new projects to augment the education project: a clinic and the "Biomass" project. Together, the three projects amount to an attempt to address in a connected, holistic, manner the root problems of poverty in Haiti.
We approach the people of Haiti in love, looking for ways to work with them to create opportunities for advancement toward a healthy, happy life. It has often happened that people have visited, enjoyed their stay, seen the opportunities for work that suits them, and return to start a ministry of their own. If you have an interest, we encourage you to plan a visit.
For his part, Father Bruno enthusiastically welcomes visitors, and encourages anyone who is interested to plan to visit as the first and most important step in becoming involved.
