THE CHALLENGES
The challenge for Haiti’s Northeast region is:
- High infant and maternal mortality rate.
- Life expectancy of less than 55 years, malnutrition, diabetes, high blood pressure.
Why?
- No local ambulatory care clinic in the region.
- No basic healthcare services available.
- No emergency transportation to out-of-town health care clinic or hospital.
- No basic health education.
- Chronic illness made worse by poverty.
