École Professionnelle de St. Esprit
The Vocational-Technical School in Cap Haitien
Started in 1979 with gifts from a number of Presbyterian and Episcopal churches and organizations, the instructional program includes the basic skills needed to establish a modern society, such as plumbing, electricity, welding, auto repair, computer skills and home economics. In the years since, it has become well known to the business community in North Haiti as a source of well-educated, capable workers with important skills. Many of the business men and women of Cap Haitien are graduates of this school, and it continues to produce many of the skilled tradespeople who are helping to build the country's economic base.
From the inception of the program, poor students who had completed elementary education but had no money to attend high school were recruited to this school and supported with scholarships. Bethlehem Ministry supports 150 students with scholarships at this school.
