École St. Etienne, Limonade

Ecole St. Etienne, Limonade

This is the largest building in Limonade, situated on the main road through town. The church is a mission of the Episcopal Church of Haiti, and the school is a Montessori program. And, because it is connected with a church, the students also receive instruction in Christianity.

When students graduate from here, they know how to read and write, how to do basic mathematics and are prepared for life in their culture and language. Those who can will continue in high school in Cap Haitien, 7 miles away.

Limonade is on the main road from Cap Haitien along the northern coast of Haiti to the Dominican Republic. The school was founded in 1987 with a large gift from Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Athens, Georgia, and completed through the help of many other gifts. This school and church play an important role in the development of the town's self-image and is a symbol of a bright future.

St. Étienne is also an Episcopal Church, with an active local congregation who began meeting in a small house with a tin roof.

We support 50 students at this school.
