They drove the child to Cap-Haitien. I kept on praying. I know it was a risk I took, but it was a risk in faith, a risk with the Lord. If anything happened to the child, the parents would hold me responsible because they wanted to go one way and I insisted to use other means. I kept on praying. I talked to the Lord and said, "Lord, please don?t let that child die. Give him life. Do not let the adversary triumph over us. If this child dies I will not be able to give a testimony of your power, of your love in the Terrier Rouge community. Who will believe in my testimony of your greatness and graciousness?" Two hours later I received word from Rachel. The pediatrician diagnosed 'meningitis' and the child was rushed to the hospital where he was admitted immediately. Half an hour after the admission the boy fell into a coma. My friend continued with the treatment. For our part, we kept praying. Our prayer warriors did not stop begging for the life of the child. Two days later, the good news came. The child was able to eat. After two weeks Eclyn went back home. It was just before Christmas. When he got to Terrier Rouge, the first thing he did was to run to the school. He looked for Dominique and told her that he heard they had given away all the shoeboxes, but he was sure they have kept his. Dominique and Rachel broke into a big laugh, praising the Lord for what He has done for this family and the school. When my daughters called me, I told them to return with Eclyn to his home to celebrate the victory of the Lord and to preach the Gospel to the whole household. At the beginning of January I went back to Terrier Rouge and saw him in his pretty uniform at the school. His father came to thank me for saving his child's life. I asked him to surround himself with the Lord. Other people met me in the streets and told me how grateful they are to God and me for the life of the child. "Praise the Lord", I kept repeating to them.

In my life I have seen miracles happen. I have noted that three conditions are always met: 1. The correct attitude towards life. 2. A strong faith (which can move mountains). 3. Intensive prayers (to nurture that faith). May all of you have a Holy Lenten season that will prepare you to celebrate joyously the Resurrection of Jesus our Lord and Savior.
Ministry OpportunitiesA scholarship for a child in school is $200.00 per year. A scholarship for a young person in the professional school is $300.00. The Clinic Espérance et Vie is about to start construction. We need all things medical and money for the building. The biomass project is on its way to transforming the production of charcoal in the area. Finally, you can visit. "Come and see." You have no idea what the Lord can do with you (nor do we!) Jan Tijmes came and is applying his expertise in waste water management to help the center. Soizic Bonnet came and taught teachers better ways of teaching - and lost her heart to the children there. Bill Grow came to see where his Christmas shoeboxes were going. He saw that his one-time ministry had become a lifetime project. And you can pray. Your Lenten discipline of prayer and fasting now has a focus. |
