Made with Xara Web Designerenrich the life of a childgive the gift of music!Ecole St. Barthélémy is working hard to develop a music program to enhance its award-winning curriculum. Haitians are creative and artistic people and learning to create music is a wonderful avenue for self-expression. In 2009, we introduced our 4th through 7th grade students to music instruction using donated plastic recorders. Through the continued generosity of our supporters, we have since added drums, trumpets, saxophones, and more - enough instruments to create a school marching band, the first in Terrier Rouge! This year St. Bart’s hosted its second annual music camp organized by a group called “CEMUCHCA” from Cap-Haitien. Fifteen musicians from the US in a good will mission joined Haitian musicians to teach instruments ranging from violin to trumpet. More than 150 young people from different musical spheres made up the group. The students attending performed twice during the camp. They played at our graduation ceremony on July 3rd and before the closing of the camp on July 9th for the community. A special consideration was given to Saint Barthélémy School’s marching band. Thirty nine students of our music program were invited to this camp. It was a great opportunity for our kids. We negotiated with “CEMUCHCA” a half scholarship for each of our children, just $50 for two weeks of camp!Your sponsorship of our students made this possible. Your $50 donation gave a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to some terrific young musicians. Thank you for your support! If you wish to make a financial donation to our music program you may make a donation online here or send a check to Bethlehem Ministry, 105 Rocky Road, Morganton, GA 30560-3886. Please earmark the funds for the music program in the memo line. Pere Bruno will use these funds to purchase musical instruments in the Dominican Republic.Your support over the years has allowed us to expand our initiatives in new and exciting ways. Thank you for allowing us to dream a little bigger.
