École St. Barthélemy
The Elementary School in Terrier Rouge
In 2001, we broke ground for the school at Terrier Rouge. Funded by generous gifts from First Presbyterian Church of Athens, Georgia and several individuals, the building of the first floor was completed in 2002, in time for the first class of 60 students to enter the new Montessori program.
Additional gifts from Bridgeway Charitable Foundation have made it possible to complete the first floor and second floor. Subsequent gifts added a feeding porch and additional classroom area on the second floor.
The elementary school will be complete when a third floor is added. Fund raising for this final stage of constructions is now taking place, and we want the third floor to be finished in 2008.
Dedicated to excellence, this school is the only chance poor children from this community have for an education. Most education in Haiti, even public education, costs money, so attending one of the best schools in Northeast Haiti is a blessing for these children. Bethlehem Ministry now supports nearly 400 children here, and expects this number to increase to over 600 in a few years.
The Montessori method is used for instruction in the early grades. |
These buildings house dormitory rooms for visitors. Come and visit.
